The International Holistic Health Association (IHHA) was started in 1989 as it recognised the emerging awareness, need and practice of Holistic and Integrated Medicine. Drawing from various systems of healing from across the globe, including ancient, traditional and modern practices, Holistic Medicine has widened the scope of treatment, making it effective, safe and affordable.
The growth involves an openness and acceptance of different systems of medicine and a continuous global education and exchange of healing systems that are little or less well known. The approach to healing should be patient oriented rather than system oriented.
This cooperative inter-dialogue amongst global practitioners of Holistic and Integrated Medicine is crucial in the EVOLUTION of health care for the individual and HARMONY FOR THE PLANET ON WHICH WE LIVE.

The IHHA held its 1st International Conference on Holistic Health and Medicine in November 1989. IT was patronised by His Holiness The Dalai Lama. The KEYNOTE speakers FOR the Conference were Dr. Andrew Weil, Swami Satchidananda and Bishop Gregorious, President of the World Council of Churches. It was attended by 500 delegates from 30 countries.

The IHHA ORGANISED the Global Holistic Health Summit in January 2003 for which the KEYNOTE speakers were Dr. Deepak Chopra, representatives of the W.H.O. and the Prince of Wales Foundation for Integrative Medicine, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation and Dr. Norman Shealy. The Summit WAS hosted by SOUKYA AND was attended by over 500 delegates from 40 countries.
